About
Background/Context
The Davos Tri Hita Karana G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance Dialogue with the theme “Sustainable AI: Balancing Compute Growth with Equitable Prosperity” took place at a pivotal moment for the global economy, as artificial intelligence, the clean energy transition, and sustainable finance increasingly converge to shape future growth, equity, and development.
A key theme of this year’s World Economic Forum gathering is ‘how we can deploy innovation at scale and responsibly’ considering that AI is accelerating at an unprecedented speed — reshaping economies, development pathways, and global competition. AI powered advancements in key sectors of the economy – from health to energy – are projected to add more than $15 trillion to global GDP by 2030. At the same time, AI’s growth comes with profound implications for energy and water consumption, land and carbon footprints, data governance and ethics, and equitable access to compute and natural resources.
Indonesia recognizes the urgency of balancing the AI–energy nexus through a “twin transition” that harnesses AI to optimize energy systems while responsibly managing AI own energy demands. This comes at a time when investments in AI infrastructure are expected to exceed USD 7 trillion by 2030, even as developing economies currently capture only a small share of AI investment and capability, widening the digital and economic divide.
The Davos Dialogue builds on the outcomes from the Tri Hita Karana G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance Dialogue on “Sustainable AI for Our Common Future”, held in Bali in October 2025, which underscored three realities: 1) AI will become critical infrastructure — influencing productivity, innovation, and social systems; 2) Sustainability must be embedded from the start — including climate-aligned compute, responsible data use, and trusted governance; and 3) Emerging markets risk being left behind — without investment in skills, compute access, and institutional capability.
In this context, the high-level Davos Dialogue convene senior public and private sector decision-makers and thought leaders driving the AI revolution to spotlight the policies and innovations required to ensure technological advancement serves the best interest of people and planet.
The Davos Dialogue is jointly hosted by the Tri Hita Karana Forum, the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance with knowledge partner United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
